Painted shapes are altered, covered, carefully revealed and reworked until a final resolution is reached. With chisels, whole areas can be obliterated, and the plywood itself offers hidden layers. Often forms emerge from the grain which influence the final outcome. Other motifs are filtered from a continuous documentation of everyday small details, found images and curious objects. Tracking in and out between both conflicting and harmonious marks on the two-dimensional surface, and a deeper vista, it is up to the viewer to draw their own narratives.

Drawings & Prints

Drawing in ink, or arranging cut paper, enables me to extract and simplify elements from nature, photographed details or found images. I make these small works on paper in preparation for my paintings, where several of these motifs are then selected and layered together. I’m interested in the relationships and spaces between forms, in creating perfect balance and tension.

A3 digital prints are available of my 6 most recent ink drawings (pictured above).

Each one is printed locally in Cornwall on beautiful HKM paper which is off-white, 100% recycled, and milled in Cullompton, Devon.

Sharing Dishes

Made in Cornwall, from earthenware clay.

The organic, natural forms echo those found in my paintings. These dishes are for nibbles and tapas, food made for sharing.
